community & Public Events events

I'm a Chester-based photographer with a long track record of documenting community events — from neighbourhood street parties to large-scale arts festivals. Whether it's a one-off celebration or an annual fixture, I bring a natural, candid, documentary style that captures the energy, atmosphere and the people.  Commissions have taken me across Chester, Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond — from Lache in Chester to the streets of St Helens and the stages of Liverpool's Africa Oyé festival.

The Feast

I was commissioned to document this wonderful event held on a glorious summer day in 2023. Lache in Chester played host to a giant street party, inspired by the many volunteers and community sprit of the place as well as the carnivals and festivals held on the estate in years gone by.

The Feast was conceived by artist, Lowri Evans, funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council and brought to life by the wonderful people of Lache.

Hastings Bonfire Night

This is one event that should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s a completely insane night of fire, fun and costumes. I used to live in East Sussex and was lucky enough to document the event on a few occasions.

Streethunt 2022

On a bright summer day, Heart of Glass invited residents to take to the streets for a treasure hunt across St Helens as part of an arts project called Street Hunt.

Described as a kind of “visual crossword puzzle”, artist Joshua Sofaer’s Street Hunt was a treasure hunt where the riches are road names: a story emerging from the page and a chance for St Helens residents to win up to £6,000.

I was commissioned by Heart of Glass to document the day, bringing my own natural, candid style to create a fitting document of the day.

Africa Oye

Growing into the UK’s biggest free music festival, Africa One goes from strength to strength. I have documented the event regularly and it’s always a special weekend.
