Documenting Participatory Art Works
I've been commissioned to document participatory and performance art projects across the North West and North Wales — working closely with artists and organisations to create photography that goes beyond documentation and becomes part of the work itself. Past commissions include projects with Heart of Glass (St Helens), artist Lowri Evans (Salford Museum), and Andy Field and Becky Darlington. I'm experienced in the particular demands of arts photography — working sensitively around live performance, capturing fleeting moments in low light, and producing images that do justice to the creative intent of the work. If you're an artist, arts organisation, or festival looking for a sympathetic and experienced photographer, get in touch.
leaves / Leaving by Lowri Evans
Last Autumn Lowri sat under trees in Salford, thinking about life cycles as people stopped by. together they wrote on leaves what we wanted to let go off. Winter came and went, and then in a gallery in Spring, was an exhibition. I documented the wonderful Autumn encounters and the photos we made together formed part of the exhibition at the Salford Museum.
Lookout by Andy Field and Becky Darlington
Lookout takes place as a meeting between one adult audience member and one child performer. Two people of very different ages, coming together to have a conversation. They stand together somewhere high up, looking out at the streets and buildings of the town below, and begin to talk about its future. They see before them the world as it is now and as it might be many years from now. I was commissioned by Heart of Glass to document the St Helens event.
